The Fool and the Woman is a 1520 ink by Lucas van Leyden, a Renaissance work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This print shows a woman and a man with a jester’s hat and bells. They’re close, her hand on his shoulder, his hand on her arm. The woman wears a fancy dress with a belt and a brooch, while the man has a loose robe and a small bag at his side. The date "1520" is stamped in the corner, and the style looks like it’s from the Renaissance. The artist used lines to show fabric and faces, making everything look detailed but simple.
