Untitled is a 1771 paint by Unknown, a Patna School of Painting work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting shows a detail from a scroll-painting with Hindu deities. It's a small part of a bigger work. The artist made it for the British in India, which is interesting because it shows how different cultures were interacting at the time - the British were influencing Indian art and Indian artists were adapting to British tastes. You can learn more about this type of art at the museum: Victoria and Albert Museum.
A horizontal scroll painting from 1771, executed in opaque watercolour and gold on paper, depicts Hindu deities and is identified as a Company painting created by Indian artists for British patrons. Acquired by William Marsden during his service in Sumatra, the work was later presented to the Royal Asiatic Society in 1828 before being transferred to the Victoria and Albert Museum in 1924. The painting formed part of the India Museum’s collection before its relocation to South Kensington in 1879.
