Vishnu, Garuda and Hanuman is a 1830 paint by Unknown, a Patna School of Painting work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting shows three figures standing side by side. The middle one is tall, dark-skinned, and wears lots of gold jewelry and a green skirt. Above his head is an arch with red flowers. To his left is a smaller blue figure with a crown. To his right is a yellow figure with a monkey face. The dark figure is the main one—he’s holding a big wheel and a short stick. The background is packed with swirling patterns and bright colors. Look up Romanticism next to see why this style loved bold colors and dramatic scenes.
The painting depicts Vishnu being worshipped by Garuda and Hanuman, rendered in gouache on wood around 1830.
