This sketch shows a tired-looking man standing in a small boat, holding a net. Behind him, two other people—one crawling, one sitting—hug the shore. The water is choppy, and the land is rough and uneven, drawn in quick, loose lines. The artist used a purple-tinted lithograph, which gives the whole scene a soft, faded look. The figures are simple but full of movement, almost like a quick snapshot. If you like this style, check out lithography to see how artists use stone and ink to create prints.
