The Hundred Guilder Print, central section
1649
From the collection of Cleveland Museum of Art
The Hundred Guilder Print, central section is a 1649 by Rembrandt, a Baroque work, held at Cleveland Museum of Art.
This etching shows Jesus in a crowd, teaching and healing. A man with a child asks for help. Others watch or listen near a village. Rembrandt made this print in sections on one copper plate. He kept reworking the design over years. The lines are deep and soft, mixing light and shadow in a way that feels alive. This section alone still tells a full story. Look for Rembrandt van Rijn.
Rembrandt's original plate for the Hundred Guilder print (1942.757) was acquired by William Baillie in 1775 and reworked. The plate was later cut, shaped, and printed in separate sections, as here, showing the central section of the composition.
