Mais, monsieur, je vous assure que c'est du... veau!... is a 1852 ink by Honoré Daumier, a Impressionism work, held at National Gallery of Art.
The image shows a man in a top hat and dark coat, sitting at a table, looking down at his plate. Another man, wearing a white apron, stands behind him, gesturing with his hands. The scene is set in a dimly lit room with a table and chairs. The man in the top hat seems to be questioning the food in front of him, while the other man is trying to assure him. The atmosphere is one of skepticism and persuasion. This scene is reminiscent of the work of the artist Daumier, Honoré.
Honoré-Victorin Daumier was a French painter, sculptor, and printmaker, whose many works offer commentary on the social and political life in France, from the Revolution of 1830 to the fall of the Second French Empire in 1870.
